Bazan / Care

While doing some digital organizing, we came across this video that was made during the recording of Bazan’s 4th solo album, Care.

Today, March 7th, happens to be the 9th anniversary of the album’s release. So it seemed like a good time to share this.

Our friend, Brandon Vedder, came to Richard Swift’s National Freedom studio in Cottage Grove, Oregon, during the recording sessions and captured some nice moments of Dave and Richard working on the album together.

The video was available to Kickstarter supporters as part of a campaign Brandon ran to help fund his Bazan documentary, Strange Negotiations.

This is the first time the video has been seen outside of that context.

Care was released in 2017 and was the last Bazan “solo” album before bringing back the Pedro the Lion band name for recording and touring.

Besides some writing and recording Dave did at home, the album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Dave and Richard in about seven days.

We rarely do discounts on our web store because the profit margins are so small, and music is a valuable resource, right! But we’re making an exception for a limited time because we want to make it an easy purchase if you don’t already have it.

Between now and March 13th, you can get Care on vinyl for $20 or CD for $8.

It comes in a super nice matte-finish gatefold jacket featuring photos Richard Swift took during the recording sessions. Chris Colbert mastered it for vinyl and then we had it pressed on high-quality black vinyl by the nice folks at Gotta Groove Records in Cleveland, OH (our favorite record pressing plant).
